Each challenge will be featured for a limited time frame, but feel free to submit an idea about this topic at any time. We will select proposals addressing the current challenge within one month after the closing of the challenge, unless otherwise stated on the site.

Plug & abandonment

Many of Statoil’s fields on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) are reaching the end of production. More than 1000 wells need to be abandoned due to field decommissioning over the next 5 to 25 years. Of these, almost half are subsea wells.
