To put it simply; information technology is everywhere, and as a global energy company we are in the midst of it – and we are dependent on well-functioning IT and communication to succeed at the highest level. This includes offshore, onshore, as well as sub-sea and sub-surface.
Statoil’s activities cross boundaries. We are today handling complex data transactions at onshore and offshore locations in over 30 countries around the world.

Huge amounts of data
The IT Challenge is an initiative to talk about innovation. We are seeking dialogue with competent and visionary IT people. You don’t need to fulfill formal requirements to take part in the challenge. You may be part of a company, an academic or just an individual with ambitions within IT. Above all, it’s your idea that matters.
From internally developed models to large commercial applications – all shall work in a system framing the entire corporate IT structure. Within that framework are also huge amounts of data to be managed, accessed and stored. Another important element is the user that needs access to the data in a decent way (access time, presentation and sharing) and to collaborate with others – on other geographic locations and across time zones.
Success by joint efforts
If your idea is promising, Statoil may contribute with financial support, project supervision and control, access to pilot testing, technical expertise and idea tuning, networks, access to third party capital, business insight and general advice in the development phase.
